Amey LG, as part of the Birmingham City Council Highways Maintenance and Management Service (BHMMS) contract, undertook a Tunnels Refurbishment Program which upgraded three road tunnels within the city highways network.

CSP built a network to support the fibre optic Wide Area Network (WAN) required for the BHMMS Lancaster Circus, St Chads and Queensway tunnel refurbishment program. We provided a resilient high bandwidth dark fibre optic ring, diversely routed to the Operational Control Room (OCR).

The program provided new technology systems offering tunnel operators modern facilities to monitor tunnel operations and manage incidents. The WAN connects each tunnel Local Area Network (LAN) to the OCR LAN, supporting the operation of the TMS. The OCR is located within Birmingham City Councils offices at 1 Lancaster Circus.

CSP, as part of it’s ongoing commitment to this program, will continue to provide Maintenance Support Services for the next 20 years.
