Safety Schemes in Procurement

Concept Solutions People Ltd are Awarded Safety Schemes In Procurement (SSIP) Accreditation. CSP, as part of its Constructionline approved supplier status, have been awarded Safety Schemes In Procurement (SSIP) certification by Acclaim.

Benefits to Clients of Mutual Recognition

An important feature of the SSIP Forum is the HSE’s message that a buyer can be confident a supplier who is registered or accredited as compliant or approved with an SSIP member has been assessed to the Core Criteria standard (stage 1).

The buyer, having verified their status, will only then need to focus on the project or job specific assessment (stage 2).

Another major benefit for SSIP Forum members is that by tackling the cost and uncertainty surrounding pre-qualification they can encourage far more suppliers, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to take part. This will widen market opportunities for SMEs and give more choice to clients. In addition to these considerable business benefits, we believe the SSIP Forum will also help to raise the overall standard of health and safety.

The key facts about SSIP

SSIP is not an assessment scheme, it is a membership or umbrella body for assessment schemes with the common aim of reducing both duplication and costs for both buyers and suppliers.

Suppliers do not join or become members of SSIP. It is the assessment schemes who are registered members of SSIP.

If you have a construction health and safety certificate from a member scheme, you should see the SSIP logo on the certificate and details on the scheme’s website.

If you have a certificate from one member scheme and a buyer asks you to join a second member scheme, you should benefit from the mutual recognition by being offered a ‘deem to satisfy’ certificate without having to go through another assessment process at a much lower fee. Those schemes who go beyond the Core Criteria will ask additional questions.

The Buyer

Why limit your choice of suppliers to a single scheme? As a buyer, adopting SSIP can help you access more suppliers assessed to the CDM2007 Health & Safety requirement.
